We are still in Remission:)

Jeremiah had a PET scan today and he is still in remission!!!!! YES:) I have had a few of you ask exactly what they do....so here we go. I am probably not the best to explain this but this is from what I understand.
It was an interesting but great day. Jeremiah worked all night last night came home at 5:30am to pick me up. Jeremiah's parents graciously met us here at 5:30 and watched the kids all day. Jeremiah's PET scan was at 9 so we always leave 3.5 hours before we need to be there in case we run into traffic etc. Of course right before we enter Ann Arbor there is a HUGE accident that covers all 4 lanes of the highway both ways. We put the car in park at 7:50 and didn't put it into drive until 9:25...NO, I am not kidding! I have been trying to find out if everyone was okay etc....no one was rushed away in an ambulance so we hope so. Needless to say by the time we got there he was at least 45 minutes late. Luckily they were still able to get him in for the scan which takes about 2 hours total from the time he drinks the radioactive sugar substance to scan complete. The idea is that Cancer loves sugar and so if there were any cancer in his body it would "eat up" all the sugar radioactive fluid. Therefore when they scanned him if there was cancer it would light up really dark in the spots there was cancer. Today there were no obvious spots that the his doctor saw. They still have a radiologist read it to be sure so we will get the final word in a few days.
After the scan we head over to a different building to get his blood drawn where we wait for a bit. It is reallsy sad because you see people from all walks of life. There are lots of little babies and kids that are obviously sick which is soo sad it breaks my heart every time!! After his blood is drawn we head upstairs to the Cancer Center waiting room where we wait the longest. Today his appointment was at 12:15 but since he was late from completing his scan we didn't get up there until about 12:30. His name was called about 2 so we only waited an hour and a half which is not bad!! A nurse gets his weight and blood pressure and send us back to the waiting room and a bit later they put us in a room. Typically the doctors assistant comes in and checks him for swollen lymph nodes and asks how he feels etc while the doctor is in his office reading the scan. After about a half hour they come in and let us know the news. That half hour seems like eterenithy!!!!!! We left U of M about 3:30 and got home around 6pm so the drive home was not nearly as bad. Jeremiah created a bed in the back of the van so he tried to sleep while I drove home.
U of M is an amazing hospital and we LOVE being able to see such great doctors!! Although it is a long and difficult day especially for Jeremiah we feel it is the best place for his case. Please pray for Jeremiah tonight. He seems to think he is going to work even though he got very little sleep today and his body is extremely achy and he feels nausiated. We think his body is starting to become allergic to the radioactive fluid....only thing we can think of.
